He said, there was a man among those who came before you whom Allah had blessed abundantly with wealth and children, so much so that one generation passed away and another came. When death drew near him, he said to his children, "What sort of father have I been to you?"They said, "The best of fathers."He said, "Then will you obey me? Otherwise I will take my wealth back from you. See to it that when I die you burn me until you have reduced me to charcoal, then pound me in a mortar." And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ moved his hands round, level with his knees.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, and by Allah, they did it. And the Prophet of Allah ﷺ gestured with his hand like this. Then the man said, "Then scatter me on a windy day. Perhaps I may escape Allah."That is how Affan said it. My father said, Muhanna Abu Shibl reported from Hammad, "escape Allah." And by Allah, they did that.Then there he was, standing in the grasp of Allah, and Allah said, "Son of Adam, what drove you to do what you did?"He said, "Fear of You."So Allah made good for him on account of that.
قال وقال إن رجلا ممن كان قبلكم رغسه الله تعالى مالا وولدا حتى ذهب عصر وجاء آخر فلما احتضر قال لولده أي أب كنت لكم قالوا خير أب فقال هل أنتم مطيعي وإلا أخذت مالي منكم انظروا إذا أنا مت أن تحرقوني حتى تدعوني حمما ثم اهرسوني بالمهراس وأدار رسول الله ﷺ يديه حذاء ركبتيه قال رسول الله ﷺ ففعلوا والله وقال نبي الله ﷺ بيده هكذا ثم اذروني في يوم راح لعلي أضل الله تعالى كذا قال عفان قال أبي وقال مهنا أبو شبل عن حماد أضل الله ففعلوا والله ذاك فإذا هو قائم في قبضة الله تعالى فقال يا ابن آدم ما حملك على ما فعلته قال من مخافتك قال فتلافاه الله تعالى بها
