The matter of the deceased being punished due to the weeping of the living was mentioned in the presence of Imran bin Husayn. The people said, "How can the deceased be punished because of the weeping of the living?"Imran replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said it."

ذكروا عند عمران بن حصين الميت يعذب ببكاء الحي فقالوا كيف يعذب الميت ببكاء الحي فقال عمران قد قاله رسول الله ﷺ
