Thakeef were allies of Banu Aqeel. Thakeef captured two of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ captured a man from Banu Aqeel, along with whom they seized the camel called al-Adba.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by him while he was bound in fetters, and the man called out, "Muhammad, Muhammad!"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to him and asked, "What is the matter with you?"The man said, "Why have you seized me? Why have you seized the one who outstrips the pilgrims?" saying this in a boastful manner. The Prophet replied, "I have seized you for the offense of your allies, Thakeef," and then turned away from him.The man called out again, "Muhammad, Muhammad!" And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was merciful and gentle, so he came back to him and asked, "What is the matter with you?"The man said, "I am a Muslim."The Prophet said, "If you had said this while you were in control of your own affairs, you would have succeeded completely," and then he turned away from him.The man called out again, "Muhammad, Muhammad!" The Prophet came to him and asked, "What is the matter with you?"He said, "I am hungry, so feed me, and thirsty, so give me drink."The Prophet said, "This is your need," and the man was later ransomed in exchange for the two captives.A woman from the Ansar had also been captured, and the camel al-Adba had been seized along with her. The woman was kept in fetters, and one night she escaped from her bonds. She came to the camels, and whenever she approached one, it would bray, so she would leave it, until she reached al-Adba, who did not bray. She was a well-trained camel. The woman mounted her hindquarters and urged her on, and the camel set off. The captors became aware of her escape and pursued her, but she outpaced them. She had vowed that if Allah delivered her on the camel's back, she would slaughter it. When she arrived in Medina, the people saw her and said, "Al-Adba, the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ!"She said, "I have vowed that if Allah
delivered me on her back, I would slaughter her."They came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned this to him, and he said, "Glory be to Allah! What an evil reward she has given the camel! Allah
delivered her on its back, and now she vows to slaughter it. There is no fulfillment of a vow that involves disobedience to Allah, nor a vow concerning what a servant does not own."
