The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never stood to address us without commanding us to give charity and forbidding us from mutilation. He said, "Indeed, among mutilation is that a man vows to pierce his nose. And indeed, among mutilation is that a man vows to perform Hajj on foot. Let him offer a sacrificial animal and ride."

ما قام فينا رسول الله ﷺ خطيبا إلا أمرنا بالصدقة ونهانا عن المثلة قال وقال ألا وإن من المثلة أن ينذر الرجل أن يخرم أنفه ألا وإن من المثلة أن ينذر الرجل أن يحج ماشيا فليهد هديا وليركب
Its isnad is sahih. Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Muthanna is trustworthy, and his hadith is found in the collections of the whole group. Salih bin Rustum and Kathir bin Shanzir are both trustworthy, and their hadith is found in Muslim's collection. Hakim graded the hadith sahih (4/305), and Dhahabi agreed with him. Bayhaqi related it from him (10/80).
