The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said regarding the mukatab, "He is freed in proportion to what he has paid, and his blood-money is that of a free man for the portion that has been freed and that of a slave for the portion that remains in slavery."

قال رسول الله ﷺ في المكاتب يعتق منه بقدر ما أدى دية الحر وبقدر ما رق منه دية العبد
