The Prophet ﷺ gave the closing salutation after only three units of the afternoon prayer, then stood up and went inside. A man called Khirbaq, who had long arms, rose and said, "Messenger of Allah," and mentioned to him what he had done.The Prophet ﷺ came out and asked, "Is this true?"They replied, "Yes."So he prayed the unit he had left out, then gave the closing salutation, then performed two prostrations, then gave the closing salutation again.

أن النبي ﷺ سلم في ثلاث ركعات من العصر ثم قام فدخل فقام إليه رجل يقال له الخرباق وكان في يديه طول فقال يا رسول الله فخرج إليه فذكر له صنيعه فجاء فقال أصدق هذا قالوا نعم فصلى الركعة التي ترك ثم سلم ثم سجد سجدتين ثم سلم
