Abu Barza reported,

Julaybib was a man from the Ansar. The companions of the Prophet ﷺ, whenever one of them had an unmarried woman in his household, would not marry her off until they knew whether the Prophet ﷺ had any need of her or not.One day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to a man from the Ansar, "Marry your daughter to me."The man replied, "Yes, with pleasure."The Prophet ﷺ said, "I do not want her for myself."The man asked, "For whom then?"He answered, "For Julaybib."The man said, "Let me consult her mother."He went to her and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ is asking for your daughter's hand."She said, "Yes, with pleasure. Let her be married to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."He said, "He does not want her for himself."She asked, "For whom then?"He replied, "For Julaybib."She exclaimed, "May your head be cut off! Julaybib? Julaybib?" repeating it twice. "No, by Allah, I will never marry her to Julaybib."When her father stood up to go to the Prophet ﷺ, the young woman called from behind her curtain to her mother, "Who is it that has asked for my hand?"Her mother told her, "The Prophet ﷺ."She said, "Are you going to refuse the Prophet ﷺ his request? Hand me over to the Prophet ﷺ, for he will not let me go to waste."So her father went to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Do with her as you wish." And so the Prophet married her to Julaybib.Later, while the Prophet ﷺ was on a military expedition, after Allah had granted him spoils, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Are any of your men missing?"They said, "We are missing so-and-so, and so-and-so."The Prophet said, "But I myself am missing Julaybib. Search for him among the slain."They searched and found him beside seven men he had killed before they killed him. The Prophet ﷺ stood over him and said, "He killed seven, then they killed him. He is from me and I am from him. He is from me and I am from him."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ carried him on his forearms, and Julaybib had no bier other than the forearms of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, until a grave was dug for him. He then placed him in his grave, and no washing was mentioned.

أن جليبيبا كان من الأنصار وكان أصحاب النبي ﷺ إذا كان لأحدهم أيم لم يزوجها حتى يعلم أللنبي ﷺ فيها حاجة أم لا فقال رسول الله ﷺ ذات يوم لرجل من الأنصار زوجني ابنتك فقال نعم ونعمة عين فقال له إني لست لنفسي أريدها قال فلمن قال لجليبيب قال حتى أستأمر أمها فأتاها فقال إن رسول الله ﷺ يخطب ابنتك قالت نعم ونعمة عين زوج رسول الله ﷺ قال إنه ليس يريدها لنفسه قالت فلمن قال لجليبيب قالت حلقى أجليبيب ابنه مرتين لا لعمر الله لا أزوج جليبيبا قال فلما قام أبوها ليأتي النبي ﷺ قالت الفتاة لأمها من خدرها من خطبني إليكما قالت النبي ﷺ قالت فتردون على النبي ﷺ أمره ادفعوني إلى النبي ﷺ فإنه لا يضيعني فأتى أبوها النبي ﷺ فقال شأنك بها فزوجها جليبيبا فبينما النبي ﷺ في مغزى له وأفاء الله تبارك وتعالى عليه فقال رسول الله ﷺ هل تفقدون من أحد قالوا نفقد فلانا ونفقد فلانا فقال النبي لكني أفقد جليبيبا فانظروه في القتلى فنظروه فوجدوه إلى جنب سبعة قد قتلهم ثم قتلوه قال فوقف النبي ﷺ فقال قتل سبعة ثم قتلوه هذا مني وأنا منه ثم حمله رسول الله ﷺ على ساعديه ما له سرير غير ساعدي رسول الله ﷺ حتى حفر له ثم وضعه في لحده وما ذكر غسلا
