Azraq bin Qays reported,

Abu Barza was in Ahwaz on the bank of a river, holding the bridle of his mount in his hand while he prayed. The animal began to back away, and he kept stepping back along with it. A man from the Khawarij began saying, "O Allah, disgrace this old man. Look at how he prays!"When Abu Barza finished his prayer, he said, "I heard what you all said. I campaigned with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on six, seven, or eight expeditions, and I witnessed his conduct and his leniency. Going back along with my mount is easier for me than letting it go and having it bolt off to its familiar pasture, which would distress me."Abu Barza prayed the afternoon prayer as two rakahs.
