Abdul-Rahman bin Awf reported,

Umar bin Khattab addressed the people, and the narrator heard him say, "Some people are saying, 'Why is stoning mentioned when the Book of Allah only prescribes lashing?' Yet the Messenger of Allah ﷺ carried out stoning, and we carried it out after him. Were it not that people would say that Umar added to the Book of Allah what is not part of it, I would have written it down as it was revealed."

أن عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه خطب الناس فسمعه يقول ألا وإن أناسا يقولون ما بال الرجم في كتاب الله الجلد وقد رجم رسول الله ﷺ ورجمنا بعده ولولا أن يقول قائلون أو يتكلم متكلمون أن عمر رضي الله عنه زاد في كتاب الله ما ليس منه لأثبتها كما نزلت
