Someone said to the Prophet ﷺ, "Tell us about what we do. Has it already been decreed and finished, or is it something newly begun, something newly originated?"He replied, "It is something already decreed and finished."Umar then asked, "Should we not just rely on that and abandon action?"The Prophet ﷺ said, "Keep working, son of Khattab, for everyone is made easy toward that for which he was created. Whoever is among the people of happiness will be enabled to do the deeds of happiness, and whoever is among the people of misery will be enabled to do the deeds of misery."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة وحجاج قال سمعت شعبة عن عاصم بن عبيد الله عن سالم عن ابن عمر
للنبي ﷺ أرأيت ما نعمل فيه أقد فرغ منه أو في شيء مبتدإ أو أمر مبتدع قال فيما قد فرغ منه فقال عمر ألا نتكل فقال اعمل يا ابن الخطاب فكل ميسر أما من كان من أهل السعادة فيعمل للسعادة وأما أهل الشقاء فيعمل للشقاء
Its isnad is daif due to the weakness of Asim, but its meaning has already passed as part of another sahih hadith, which is no. 184.As for his statement in this isnad, "and Hajjaj said, I heard Shubah," its meaning is that Ahmad narrated it from Muhammad bin Jafar and Hajjaj bin Muhammad Masissi, both of them from Shubah. The first said, "Shubah narrated to us," and the second said, "I heard Shubah."
