Umar met Asma bint Umays, may Allah be pleased with them both, and said to her, "What excellent people you are, except that we preceded you in the migration, so we are more virtuous than you."She replied, "You were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who taught your ignorant and carried your weary on foot, while we fled with our faith to a distant land."Then she said, "I will not rest until I go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."So she went in to him and mentioned what Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, had said to her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Rather, you have two migrations to your credit, your migration to Abyssinia and your migration to Madinah."
حدثنا أبو عبد الرحمن عبد الله بن يزيد حدثنا المسعودي عن عدي بن ثابت عن أبي بردة
لقي عمر أسماء بنت عميس رضي الله تعالى عنهما فقال نعم القوم أنتم لولا أنكم سبقتم بالهجرة ونحن أفضل منكم قالت كنتم مع رسول الله ﷺ يعلم جاهلكم ويحمل راجلكم وفررنا بديننا فقالت لا أنتهي حتى أدخل على رسول الله ﷺ فدخلت فذكرت ما قال لها عمر رضي الله تعالى عنه فقال رسول الله ﷺ بل لكم الهجرة مرتين هجرتكم إلى الحبشة وهجرتكم إلى المدينة
