A man from the tribe of Banu Amir came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, show me the seal between your shoulders, for I am among the most skilled physicians."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Shall I show you a sign instead?"The man said, "Yes."The Prophet ﷺ then looked at a palm tree and said, "Call that cluster of dates."So the man called it, and it came hopping along until it stood before him.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to it, "Go back," and it returned to its place.The Amiri man exclaimed, "People of Banu Amir, I have never seen a greater magician than this man today."

أتى النبي ﷺ رجل من بني عامر فقال يا رسول الله أرني الخاتم الذي بين كتفيك فإني من أطب الناس فقال له رسول الله ﷺ ألا أريك آية قال بلى قال فنظر إلى نخلة فقال ادع ذلك العذق قال فدعاه فجاء ينقز حتى قام بين يديه فقال له رسول الله ﷺ ارجع فرجع إلى مكانه فقال العامري يا آل بني عامر ما رأيت كاليوم رجلا أسحر

Its isnad is sahih (from "the most knowledgeable of people," meaning the most familiar with medicine, in H it reads "the best," which is an error, we corrected it from K). The hadith was narrated by Ibn Saad 1/121/1 in abridged form through the route of Sharik from Simak from Abu Dhubyan, and at its end it says, "so he believed in him and submitted," meaning the man who asked. It was narrated by Abu Naeem in Dalail Nubuwwah 139 through the route of Amash from Salim bin Abu Jaad from Ibn Abbas at length, and at its end it says, Umari said, "By Allah, I will never call you a liar in anything you say," then he said, "O sons of Sasaa, by Allah, I will never call him a liar in anything he says." It is found in Majma al-Zawaid 109 in a form similar to Abu Naeem's narration, attributed to Abu Yaala, who graded it sahih. Tirmidhi narrated it in abridged form, 4/299, through the route of Simak from Abu Dhubyan, and said, hasan sahih ghareeb. See also the history of Ibn Kathir, 6/124-125.
