I came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was encamped at al-Abtah.He asked me, "Have you performed the Hajj?"I said, "Yes."He asked, "With what intention did you enter ihram?"I said, "I declared, 'Here I am, with an ihram like the ihram of the Prophet ﷺ.'"He said, "You have done well. Make tawaf around the House and walk between Safa and Marwa, then exit ihram."So I performed tawaf around the House and walked between Safa and Marwa, then I went to a woman from the tribe of Qays who combed out my hair. After that, I entered ihram for Hajj.I used to give this ruling to people until the caliphate of Umar, may Allah be pleased with him. A man said, "Abu Musa," or "Abdullah bin Qays, hold back from some of your rulings, for you do not know what the Commander of the Believers has newly introduced concerning the rites of Hajj since you last saw him."So I said, "People, anyone to whom we have given a ruling should wait, for the Commander of the Believers is coming to you, so follow him."When Umar arrived, I mentioned this to him.He said, "If we follow the Book of Allah, the Book of Allah Almighty commands us to complete the rites in full. If we follow the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not exit ihram until the sacrificial animal had reached its place of sacrifice."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة عن قيس بن مسلم عن طارق بن شهاب
قدمت على النبي ﷺ وهو منيخ بالأبطح فقال لي أحججت قلت نعم قال فبم أهللت قال قلت لبيك بإهلال كإهلال النبي ﷺ قال قد أحسنت قال طف بالبيت وبالصفا والمروة ثم أحل قال فطفت بالبيت وبالصفا والمروة ثم أتيت امرأة من بني قيس ففلت رأسي ثم أهللت بالحج قال فكنت أفتي به الناس حتى كان خلافة عمر رضي الله تعالى عنه فقال رجل يا أبا موسى أو يا عبد الله بن قيس رويدك بعض فتياك فإنك لا تدري ما أحدث أمير المؤمنين في شأن النسك بعدك قال فقال يا أيها الناس من كنا أفتيناه فتيا فليتئد فإن أمير المؤمنين قادم عليكم فبه فأتموا قال فقدم عمر فذكرت ذلك له فقال إن نأخذ بكتاب الله فإن كتاب الله تعالى يأمرنا بالتمام وإن نأخذ بسنة رسول الله ﷺ فإن رسول الله ﷺ لم يحل حتى بلغ الهدي محله
