Shareed reported that he was riding behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when the Prophet asked him, "Do you know any of the poetry of Umaya bin Ubayy Salt?"Shareed replied, "Yes."The Prophet said, "Recite some to me."So Shareed recited a verse, and every time he finished a verse, the Prophet ﷺ would say, "Go on," until he had recited a hundred verses. Then the Prophet ﷺ fell silent, and Shareed fell silent as well.

الشريد كنت ردفا لرسول الله ﷺ فقال لي أمعك من شعر أمية بن أبي الصلت شيء قلت نعم فقال أنشدني فأنشدته بيتا فلم يزل يقول لي كلما أنشدته بيتا إيه حتى أنشدته مائة بيت قال ثم سكت النبي ﷺ وسكت
