Amr bin Abasa reported,

I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, who has followed you in this matter?"He replied, "A free man and a slave."I asked, "What is Islam?"He said, "Good speech and feeding others."I asked, "What is faith?"He said, "Patience and generosity."I asked, "Which Islam is best?"He said, "That from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe."I asked, "Which faith is best?"He said, "Good character."I asked, "Which prayer is best?"He said, "Long standing in devotion."I asked, "Which migration is best?"He said, "That you abandon what your Lord dislikes."I asked, "Which jihad is best?"He said, "He whose horse is hamstrung and whose blood is shed."I asked, "Which hours are best?"He said, "The depth of the latter part of the night. Then prayer is prescribed and witnessed until dawn breaks. When dawn breaks, no prayer is to be performed except the two units before you pray Fajr. Once you have prayed the morning prayer, refrain from praying until the sun rises. When the sun rises, it rises between the two horns of Satan, and the disbelievers prostrate to it at that time, so refrain from praying until it has climbed higher. Once it has climbed, prayer is prescribed and witnessed until the shadow stands at the height of a spear. When that occurs, refrain from praying until the sun has passed its zenith. Once it has passed, prayer is prescribed and witnessed until the sun sets. When it nears setting, refrain from praying, for it sets, or disappears, between the two horns of Satan, and the disbelievers prostrate to it then."

عن عمرو بن عبسة قال

أتيت رسول الله ﷺ فقلت يا رسول الله من تبعك على هذا الأمر قال حر وعبد قلت ما الإسلام قال طيب الكلام وإطعام الطعام قلت ما الإيمان قال الصبر والسماحة قال قلت أي الإسلام أفضل قال من سلم المسلمون من لسانه ويده قال قلت أي الإيمان أفضل قال خلق حسن قال قلت أي الصلاة أفضل قال طول القنوت قال قلت أي الهجرة أفضل قال أن تهجر ما كره ربك عز وجل قال قلت فأي الجهاد أفضل قال من عقر جواده وأهريق دمه قال قلت أي الساعات أفضل قال جوف الليل الآخر ثم الصلاة مكتوبة مشهودة حتى يطلع الفجر فإذا طلع الفجر فلا صلاة إلا الركعتين حتى تصلي الفجر فإذا صليت صلاة الصبح فأمسك عن الصلاة حتى تطلع الشمس فإذا طلعت الشمس فإنها تطلع في قرني شيطان وإن الكفار يصلون لها فأمسك عن الصلاة حتى ترتفع فإذا ارتفعت فالصلاة مكتوبة مشهودة حتى يقوم الظل قيام الرمح فإذا كان كذلك فأمسك عن الصلاة حتى تميل فإذا مالت فالصلاة مكتوبة مشهودة حتى تغرب الشمس فإذا كان عند غروبها فأمسك عن الصلاة فإنها تغرب أو تغيب في قرني شيطان وإن الكفار يصلون لها
