We were with Abdullah bin Abu Awfa fighting the Khawarij, and a young servant of Ibn Abu Awfa had joined the Khawarij. We called out to him, "Fayruz, this is Ibn Abu Awfa."He replied, "What an excellent man he would be if he migrated."Ibn Abu Awfa asked, "What is the enemy of Allah saying?"We said, "He is saying, 'What an excellent man he would be if he migrated.'"Ibn Abu Awfa said, "A migration after my migration with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" He repeated this three times. "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Blessed is the one who kills them and is then killed by them.'"Affan said in his version, "and they kill him," three times.

كنا مع عبد الله بن أبي أوفى يقاتل الخوارج وقد لحق غلام لابن أبي أوفى بالخوارج فناديناه يا فيروز هذا ابن أبي أوفى قال نعم الرجل لو هاجر قال ما يقول عدو الله قال يقول نعم الرجل لو هاجر فقال هجرة بعد هجرتي مع رسول الله ﷺ يرددها ثلاثا سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول طوبى لمن قتلهم ثم قتلوه قال عفان في حديثه وقتلوه ثلاثا
