Abdullah bin Abu Awfa reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on a journey while fasting. He called upon the man in charge of his drink to bring him something to drink. The man said, "Messenger of Allah, why not wait until evening?"Then he called him again, and the man said, "Why not wait until evening?" He did this three times. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When night comes from this direction, breaking the fast becomes permissible," or words to that effect.
