Abdullah bin Abu Awfa reported,

A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, I cannot read the Quran, so teach me something that will suffice me in place of it."The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Say, 'Praise be to Allah, glory be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, Allah is greatest, and there is no power or strength except through Allah.'"The man repeated the words, closing his fist and counting five along with his thumb. Then he said, "Messenger of Allah, this is for Allah Most High. What is there for myself?"The Prophet said, "Say, 'O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, grant me well-being, guide me, and provide for me.'"The man repeated the words, closing his other fist and counting five along with his thumb. He then went away with both hands clenched. The Prophet ﷺ said, "He has filled both his hands with goodness."
