A man called Rabia bin Abbad, from the tribe of Banu al-Dil, who had lived in the pre-Islamic era, told me, "I saw the Prophet ﷺ during the days of ignorance at the market of Dhu al-Majaz, saying, 'People, say there is no god but Allah and you will succeed.' The people were gathered around him, and behind him was a man with a bright face, cross-eyed, with two long braids, saying, 'He is a Sabian and a liar.' He followed him wherever he went. I asked about him, and they told me the lineage of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said to me, 'This is his uncle, Abu Lahab.'"
