I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Give in charity, for soon a man will walk about with his charity, and the one to whom he offers it will say, 'Had you brought it yesterday, I would have accepted it, but today I have no need for it,' and he will find no one to accept it."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة عن معبد بن خالد قال سمعت
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول تصدقوا فيوشك الرجل يمشي بصدقته فيقول الذي أعطيها لو جئت بها بالأمس قبلتها وأما الآن فلا حاجة لي فيها فلا يجد من يقبلها
Its chain is sahih. Mabad bin Khalid is al-Jadali al-Qaysi, not al-Juhani, and he is a well-known trustworthy narrator whose hadith appears in the Sahihayn.The hadith was reported by Bukhari 1/138, Shab edition, in the Book of Zakat, chapter on giving charity with the right hand, and by Muslim 2/700, number 1011, in the Book of Zakat, chapter on encouraging charity, and by Tayalisi 1/179, number 851, Minhah edition.
