Bara bin Azib reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The first thing we begin with on this day of ours is that we pray, then we return and sacrifice. Whoever does this has followed our practice, and whoever slaughtered before that, it is merely meat he has presented to his family and has nothing to do with the sacrificial rite."Abu Burda bin Niyar had already slaughtered, so he said, "I have a young goat that is better than a mature one."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Slaughter it, but it will not suffice for anyone after you."

عن البراء بن عازب قال

قال رسول الله ﷺ إن أول ما نبدأ به في يومنا هذا نصلي ثم نرجع فننحر فمن فعل ذلك فقد أصاب سنتنا ومن ذبح فإنما هو لحم قدمه لأهله ليس من النسك في شيء قال وكان أبو بردة بن نيار قد ذبح فقال إن عندي جذعة خير من مسنة فقال اذبحها ولن تجزئ عن أحد بعدك
