The Messenger of Allah ﷺ traveled from Madinah fearing none but Allah , yet he prayed two rakahs at a time until he returned.
حدثنا هشيم عن منصور عن ابن سيرين
أن رسول الله ﷺ سافر من المدينة لا يخاف إلا الله عز وجل فصلى ركعتين ركعتين حتى رجع
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Mansur is Ibn Zazan Wasiti, and he is trustworthy and firmly reliable. Ibn Sirin is Muhammad bin Sirin, a trustworthy imam, and he is trustworthy and dependable. In Maraseel by Ibn Abu Hatim, pages 68-69, Abdullah bin Ahmad relates from his father that he said, Muhammad bin Sirin did not hear from Ibn Abbas. And from Ibn Madini, regarding the hadiths of Muhammad bin Sirin from Ibn Abbas, he said, this is established, Muhammad only heard them from Ikrima, whom he met in the days of Mukhtar, and Ibn Sirin heard nothing at all from Ibn Abbas. This is not a valid basis for rejection, nor is it proof enough to state it with certainty, for Ibn Sirin was a contemporary of Ibn Abbas for a long period, so the presumption of direct hearing stands until the contrary is shown. The leading scholars have indeed graded his narration from Ibn Abbas as sahih. This hadith was narrated by Tirmidhi, number 547 in our commentary, and he said, hasan sahih. Ibn Kathir also cited it in his Tafsir, 2:558, from the book of Ibn Abu Shayba with its chain of transmission, and Nasai also narrated it, 1:211. See the hadith of Umar, 174. It will also come again at 1995.We have already discussed, in the commentary, the question of Ibn Sirin's hearing from Ibn Abbas, and we favored the view that he did hear from him. It was later established for me with certainty that he did hear from him, and it will come with a sahih chain of transmission at 2188, from Ayub, from Muhammad bin Sirin, that Ibn Abbas related to him directly, and this is a decisive, explicit statement.
