The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever calls Madinah 'Yathrib' should seek Allah's forgiveness. It is Tabah, it is Tabah."
Its isnad is daif because of Yazid bin Abu Ziyad. It appears in Abu Yaala 3/247, no. 1688, and Haythami attributed it to him in 3/300, saying, "Its narrators are trustworthy." However, the hadith has corroborating reports, for the Prophet ﷺ named Madinah Taba, and that is found in Bukhari 3/26 in the merits of Madinah, and in Muslim 2/1007, no. 1381, in the book of Hajj, "Madinah expels its evildoers."
