The first of the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ companions to come to us were Musab bin Umayr and Ibn Umm Maktum. They began teaching the Quran to the people. Then Ammar, Bilal, and Saad arrived. Then Umar bin Khattab came with a group of twenty. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ himself came.I never saw the people of Medina rejoice over anything as much as they rejoiced at his arrival. I even saw the young girls and small boys saying, "This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he has come!"He did not arrive until I had already learned Sabbih isma Rabbika al-Ala along with several other surahs from the Mufassal section.
حدثنا عفان حدثنا شعبة عن أبي إسحاق قال سمعت
أول من قدم علينا من أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ مصعب بن عمير وابن أم مكتوم قال فجعلا يقرئان الناس القرآن ثم جاء عمار وبلال وسعد قال ثم جاء عمر بن الخطاب في عشرين ثم جاء رسول الله ﷺ فما رأيت أهل المدينة فرحوا بشيء قط فرحهم به حتى رأيت الولائد والصبيان يقولون هذا رسول الله ﷺ قد جاء قال فما قدم حتى قرأت سبح اسم ربك الأعلى في سور من المفصل
