Bara bin Azib reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon on the Day of Sacrifice and said, "The first act of your worship today is this prayer."My maternal uncle Abu Burda bin Niyar stood up. Suhayl noted that he was a veteran of Badr. He said, "Messenger of Allah, this was a day on which we craved meat, so we hurried and slaughtered before the prayer."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Then replace it with another."He said, "Messenger of Allah, all we have is a young goat."The Prophet replied, "It will suffice for you, but it will not suffice for anyone after you."

حدثنا سفيان أخبرنا أبو جناب

عن يزيد بن البراء عن أبيه

خطب رسول الله ﷺ يوم النحر فقال إن أول نسككم هذه الصلاة فقام إليه أبو بردة بن نيار خالي قال سهيل وكان بدريا فقال يا رسول الله كان يوما نشتهي فيه اللحم ثم إنا عجلنا فذبحنا فقال رسول الله ﷺ فأبدلها قال يا رسول الله إن عندنا ماعزا جذعا قال فهي لك وليس لأحد بعدك
