A case was brought to Abdullah concerning a woman whose husband had married her but died before specifying her dowry and before consummating the marriage. People kept coming back to him about it, and he said, "I hold that she is entitled to a dowry equal to that of women like her, she receives her share of the inheritance, and she must observe the waiting period."Then Maqil bin Sinan al-Ashjai testified that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had given the same ruling in the case of Birwa bint Washiq.
