A man married a woman, then died before consummating the marriage, and he had not specified any dowry for her. Abdullah was asked about her case and replied, "She is entitled to a dowry equal to that of women like her, neither less nor more, she receives her share of inheritance, and she must observe the waiting period."Then Abu Sinan al-Ashjai stood up among a group from Ashja and said, "We bear witness that you have judged in her case exactly as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ judged concerning Birwa bint Washiq."

أن رجلا تزوج امرأة فتوفي عنها زوجها قبل أن يدخل بها ولم يسم لها صداقا فسئل عنها عبد الله فقال لها صداق إحدى نسائها ولا وكس ولا شطط ولها الميراث وعليها العدة فقام أبو سنان الأشجعي في رهط من أشجع فقالوا نشهد لقد قضيت فيها بقضاء رسول الله ﷺ في بروع بنت واشق
