The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The sin of two people who exchange insults rests upon the one who began it, so long as the wronged party does not exceed the bounds. The two who hurl abuse at one another are two devils, lying to each other and trading insults."

أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إثم المستبين ما قالا على البادئ ما لم يعتد المظلوم والمستبان شيطانان يتكاذبان ويتهاتران
