I said, "This is Adi bin Hatim, who lives in the region of Kufa. I should go to him so that I may hear the report directly from him myself."So I went to him and said, "I have been narrating a report on your authority, and I wanted to be the one who heard it from you directly."He said, "When the Prophet ﷺ was sent, I fled until I reached the farthest reaches of Roman territory." Then he mentioned the rest of the report.
حدثنا محمد بن أبي عدي عن ابن عون عن محمد عن ابن حذيفة قال كنت أحدث حديثا
فقلت هذا عدي بن حاتم في ناحية الكوفة فلو أتيته وكنت أنا الذي أسمعه منه فأتيته فقلت إني كنت أحدث عنك حديثا فأردت أن أكون أنا الذي أسمعه منك قال لما بعث النبي ﷺ فررت حتى كنت في أقصى الروم فذكر الحديث
