Mughira bin Shuba reported,

I was with the Prophet ﷺ one night on a journey when he asked, "Do you have any water with you?"I replied, "Yes."He dismounted from his camel and walked away until he disappeared from my sight in the darkness of the night. Then he returned, and I poured water for him from the small water-skin. He washed his face. He was wearing a woolen cloak with narrow sleeves, and he could not pull his arms out through them, so he drew them out from underneath the cloak. He then washed his arms and wiped over his head.Next I bent down to remove his leather socks, but he said, "Leave them, for I put them on while my feet were in a state of purity."So he wiped over them.
