Two co-wives quarreled, and one of them struck the other with a tent pole and killed her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled that the blood-money was due from the paternal male relatives of the killer, and that for the child in her womb a slave was to be given.The Arabi said, "Am I to pay compensation for one who neither ate nor drank, nor cried out at birth? Such a claim should be dismissed."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Rhymed speech like the rhymed speech of the Bedouins! For what is in her womb, a slave is due."

أن ضرتين ضربت إحداهما الأخرى بعمود فسطاط فقتلتها فقضى رسول الله ﷺ بالدية على عصبة القاتلة وفيما في بطنها غرة قال الأعرابي أتغرمني من لا أكل ولا شرب ولا صاح فاستهل فمثل ذلك يطل فقال رسول الله ﷺ سجع كسجع الأعراب ولما في بطنها غرة
