A woman struck another woman with a tent pole and killed her, while the victim was pregnant. The case was brought before the Prophet ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled that the paternal male relatives of the killer must pay the blood-money for the woman, and for the unborn child a slave of fine quality.The killer's relatives protested, "Are we to pay compensation for one who did not eat, did not drink, did not cry out, and made no sound at birth? Such a one's blood is shed without recompense."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "This is rhymed speech like the rhymes of the bedouins."Shuba said, I heard Ubayd.

أن امرأة ضربتها امرأة بعمود فسطاط فقتلتها وهي حبلى فأتي بها النبي ﷺ فقضى فيها رسول الله ﷺ على عصبة القاتلة بالدية وفي الجنين غرة فقال عصبتها أندي من لا طعم ولا شرب ولا صاح فاستهل مثل ذلك يطل فقال سجع مثل سجع الأعراب وقال شعبة سمعت عبيدا
