A man reported,

Someone said, "Tell us a hadith you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. May Allah honor your father, and be careful what you report."He replied, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Any man who frees a Muslim man, that freed man is his ransom from the Fire, and for every bone of the freed man's bones one bone of his own will be redeemed. Any Muslim man who frees two Muslim women, those two are his ransom from the Fire, and for every two bones of theirs one bone of his own will be redeemed. And any Muslim woman who frees a Muslim woman, that freed woman is her ransom from the Fire, and for every bone of hers one bone of her own will be redeemed.'"He said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ once invoked Allah against Mudar. So I came to him and said, "Messenger of Allah, Allah عز وجل has granted you victory, has given to you, and has answered your prayer, and now your own people are perishing. Pray to Allah for them."He turned away from me.So I said to him again, "Messenger of Allah, Allah عز وجل has granted you victory, has given to you, and has answered your prayer, and now your own people are perishing. Pray to Allah for them."Then he said, "Allah, give us rain to relieve us, rain that brings growth, that covers the land, plentiful and without delay, beneficial and not harmful."Barely a week or so passed before rain came down upon them.Shuba said that in the supplication there was a word he had heard from Habib bin Abu Thabit, from Salim, in the account of the prayer for rain. And in the version of Habib, or of Amr, from Salim, the man said, "I have come to you from a people whose stallions are too weak to swish their tails and whose shepherds have no provisions to carry with them."
