Dari used to bring the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a large skin of wine as a gift every year. In the year wine was forbidden, he came with a skin as usual. When the Prophet of Allah ﷺ looked at it, he smiled and said, "Did you know that it has been forbidden since you last came?"He replied, "Messenger of Allah, shall I not sell it and benefit from its price?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah curse the Jews. They were forbidden the fat of cattle and sheep, so they melted it down, sold it as something else, and consumed its price. Wine is forbidden, and its price is forbidden. Wine is forbidden, and its price is forbidden. Wine is forbidden, and its price is forbidden."
