He related that two men told him they came to the Prophet ﷺ asking him for charity. He looked them up and down and saw that they were sturdy, then said, "If you wish, I will give to you, but there is no share in it for a wealthy person, nor for one who is strong and able to earn."
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن هشام قال حدثنى أبي أن
حدثه أن رجلين أخبراه أنهما أتيا النبي ﷺ يسألانه من الصدقة فقلب فيهما البصر ورآهما جلدين فقال إن شئتما أعطيتكما ولا حظ فيها لغني ولا لقوي مكتسب
Its isnad is sahih. Its narrators are well-known and trustworthy, and Ubaydullah bin Adi is Ibn Khiyar, a minor companion who was old enough to understand things on the day of the conquest. The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud, 2/286, no. 634, in the chapter on zakat, on who may be given from the alms, and by Nasai, 5/10, in the chapter on zakat, on the question of the able-bodied person who can earn, and by Daraqutni, 2/119, and Bayhaqi, 7/14. In my view, the more likely opinion is that the two men were Hayya and Sawaa, the two sons of Khalid.
