I was with Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, when he touched the corner of the Kaaba.Yala said, I was beside the Prophet ﷺ. When I reached the western corner adjacent to the Black Stone, I moved ahead of him to touch it.Umar said, "What are you doing?"I replied, "Aren't you going to touch these two corners?"He asked, "Did you not perform tawaf with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"I said, "Yes, I did."He asked, "Did you see him touch these two," meaning the western corners?I said, "No."He said, "Then do you not have in him a fine example to follow?"I said, "Of course."He said, "Then move on."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق حدثنا ابن جريج قال أخبرني سليمان بن عتيق عن عبد الله بن بابيه عن بعض بني يعلى بن أمية
كنت مع عمر رضي الله تعالى عنه فاستلم الركن قال يعلى وكنت مما يلي النبي ﷺ فلما بلغت الركن الغربي الذي يلي الأسود وحدرت بين يديه لأستلم فقال ما شأنك قلت ألا تستلم هذين قال ألم تطف مع رسول الله ﷺ فقلت بلى قال أرأيته يستلم هذين يعني الغربيين قلت لا قال فليس لك فيه أسوة حسنة قلت بلى قال فانفذ عنك
