The Prophet ﷺ said, "When my messengers come to you, give them," or he said, "hand over to them, thirty coats of mail and thirty camels," or something less than that.The man asked him, "Is it a loan to be returned, Messenger of Allah?"The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Yes."
حدثنا بهز بن أسد حدثنا همام عن قتادة عن عطاء
عن النبي ﷺ قال إذا أتتك رسلي فأعطهم أو قال فادفع إليهم ثلاثين درعا وثلاثين بعيرا أو أقل من ذلك فقال له العارية مؤداة يا رسول الله قال فقال النبي ﷺ نعم
Its isnad is sahih, and its narrators are well-known trustworthy men. The hadith was narrated by Abu Dawud, 3/826, no. 3566, in the Book of Sales, chapter on liability for borrowed items, and by Tirmidhi, 3/377, no. 2120, in the Book of Bequests, chapter on what has been said about there being no bequest for an heir, and by Ibn Majah, 2/802, no. 2398, and by Ibn Hibban, 285, no. 1174, in his Mawarid, and by Daraqutni, 3/39.
