Uthman bin Abu As reported,

I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he raised his gaze, then lowered it until he nearly pressed it to the ground. Then he raised his gaze again and said, "Jibril came to me and commanded me to place this verse in this spot of this surah, 'Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded'" [Nahl 16:90].

حدثنا أسود بن عامر حدثنا هريم عن ليث عن شهر بن حوشب

عن عثمان بن أبي العاص قال

كنت عند رسول الله ﷺ جالسا إذ شخص ببصره ثم صوبه حتى كاد أن يلزقه بالأرض قال ثم شخص ببصره فقال أتاني جبريل عليه السلام فأمرني أن أضع هذه الآية بهذا الموضع من هذه السورة {إن الله يأمر بالعدل والإحسان وإيتاء ذي القربى وينهى عن الفحشاء والمنكر والبغي يعظكم لعلكم تذكرون}
