I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "Along with the newborn boy is his aqiqah, so shed blood on his behalf and remove the harm from him."He said, I also heard him say, "Your charity to a poor person is a single charity, but your charity to a relative is twofold, both charity and the upholding of kinship ties."
حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن هشام قال حدثتني حفصة
سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول مع الغلام عقيقته فأهرقوا عنه دما وأميطوا عنه الأذى قال وسمعته يقول صدقتك على المسكين صدقة وعلى ذي القربى الرحم ثنتان صدقة وصلة
Its isnad is sahih, and there is some discussion regarding Hafsa's hearing from Sulayman, but it does no harm. The hadith was narrated by Bukhari, 9/590, no. 5472, Fath, in the chapter on aqeeqah. Also Abu Dawud, 3/261, no. 2839, and Tirmidhi, 4/82, no. 1515, who said, hasan sahih, and Ibn Majah, 2/1056, no. 3165, and Tabarani in Al-Kabir, 6/273, no. 6199.
