He said from the pulpit to the people, "How far your way has strayed from the way of your Prophet ﷺ. As for him, he was the most detached of people from this world, and as for you, you are the most eager of people for it."
حدثنا أبو سلمة الخزاعي حدثنا بكر بن مضر قال سمعت أبا هانئ يقول سمعت علي بن رباح يقول سمعت
وهو على المنبر للناس ما أبعد هديكم من هدي نبيكم ﷺ أما هو فأزهد الناس في الدنيا وأما أنتم فأرغب الناس فيها
