He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "When a judge issues a ruling, exerting his utmost effort, and arrives at the correct judgment, he receives two rewards. And when he issues a ruling, exerting his utmost effort, but errs, he receives one reward."He said, I related this hadith to Abu Bakr bin Amr bin Hazm, and he said, "This is exactly how Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman narrated it to me from Abu Hurairah."

أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يقول إذا حكم الحاكم فاجتهد فأصاب فله أجران وإذا حكم فاجتهد فأخطأ فله أجر قال فحدثت بهذا الحديث أبا بكر بن عمرو بن حزم قال هكذا حدثني أبو سلمة بن عبد الرحمن عن أبي هريرة
