He gave gifts to a group of people and favored Ammar bin Yasir over the others. When he was asked about this, he replied, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'The transgressing party will kill him.'"

Its isnad is sahih, despite the anonymity of the narrator from Amr, though the most likely view is that he is his freedman Abu Qays, as Haythami also said, 7/241. The hadith was also reported by Ibn Abu Shayba, 10/293, no. 19697.
