Abu Thalaba reported,

I went on the expedition to Khaybar with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the people were starving. We came across some domestic donkeys there and slaughtered them. The Prophet ﷺ was informed of this, so he ordered Abdul-Rahman bin Awf to announce to the people that the flesh of domestic donkeys is not lawful for anyone who bears witness that I am the Messenger of Allah.He said, We also found onions and garlic in the surrounding fields, and the people were starving, so they ate from them. They then went to the mosque, and the smell of onions and garlic filled the place. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever has eaten from this foul vegetable should not come near us."He also said, "Plunder is not lawful, nor is the meat of any predator with fangs, nor is an animal tied up and used as a target."

حدثنا زكريا بن عدي قال أخبرنا بقية عن بحير بن سعد عن خالد بن معدان عن جبير بن نفير

عن أبي ثعلبة الخشني أنه حدثهم قال

غزوت مع رسول الله ﷺ خيبر والناس جياع فأصبنا بها حمرا من حمر الإنس فذبحناها قال فأخبر النبي ﷺ فأمر عبد الرحمن بن عوف فنادى في الناس أن لحوم حمر الإنس لا تحل لمن شهد أني رسول الله قال ووجدنا في جنباتها بصلا وثوما والناس جياع فجهدوا فراحوا فإذا ريح المسجد بصل وثوم فقال رسول الله ﷺ من أكل من هذه البقلة الخبيثة فلا يقربنا وقال لا تحل النهبى ولا يحل كل ذي ناب من السباع ولا تحل المجثمة
