He asked the Prophet ﷺ about the cooking pots of the People of the Book.The Prophet ﷺ replied, "If you cannot find others, then wash them and cook in them."He also asked him about the meat of donkeys, and he forbade him from that, as well as from every predatory animal with fangs.
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر قال حدثنا شعبة عن أيوب عن أبي قلابة
أنه سأل النبي ﷺ عن قدور أهل الكتاب فقال إن لم تجدوا غيرها فاغسل واطبخ وسأله عن لحوم الحمر فنهاه عن ذلك وعن كل سبع ذي ناب
Its isnad is sahih, its narrators are reliable and well-known. Tirmidhi narrated the hadith in 4/64, no. 1464, in the chapter on hunting, and said, hasan sahih. Likewise in 4/255, no. 1797, in the chapter on foods. And similarly Bukhari in 9/604, no. 5478, Fath al-Bari, in the chapter on slaughtered animals and hunting, hunting with a bow. Hakim declared it sahih in 1/144, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
