The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "People, whoever among you we appoint to a task and then conceals from us even a needle or anything more than that, it is treachery, and he will come bearing it on the Day of Resurrection."A black man from the Ansar stood up. Mujalid said, "He was Saad bin Ubada, I can still picture him."He said, "Messenger of Allah, take back from me the task you assigned me."The Prophet asked, "Why is that?"He replied, "I heard you say such and such."The Prophet said, "And I say it now. Whoever we appoint to a task, let him bring whatever comes from it, little or much. Whatever he is given from it, he may take, and whatever he is forbidden, he must refrain from."
مرتين حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن إسماعيل بن أبي خالد قال حدثني قيس
قال رسول الله ﷺ يا أيها الناس من عمل منكم لنا على عمل فكتمنا منه مخيطا فما فوقه فهو غل يأتي به يوم القيامة قال فقام رجل من الأنصار أسود قال مجالد هو سعد بن عبادة كأني أنظر إليه قال يا رسول الله اقبل عني عملك فقال وما ذاك قال سمعتك تقول كذا وكذا قال وأنا أقول ذلك الآن من استعملناه على عمل فليجئ بقليله وكثيره فما أوتي منه أخذه وما نهي عنه انتهى
