I asked the Prophet ﷺ about a sacrificial animal that becomes disabled on the way. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Slaughter it, dip its sandal in its blood, and strike its flank with it," or he said, "its side, but neither you nor anyone in your company should eat any of it."
Its isnad is hasan because of Sharik and Shahr, but the hadith is sahih. Muslim narrated it 2/922, no. 1325, in the book of Hajj, on what should be done with a sacrificial animal if it becomes disabled. Abu Dawud narrated similarly 2/148, no. 1712, and Tirmidhi similarly 3/244, no. 910, saying it is hasan sahih. Ibn Majah narrated it 2/1032, no. 3106.
