An Arabi came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about the Pond. The Prophet then mentioned Paradise.The Arabi asked, "Is there fruit in it?"He replied, "Yes, and in it is a tree called Tuba." He then mentioned something about it which I do not recall.The Arabi asked, "Which of the trees of our land does it resemble?"He answered, "It does not resemble any tree of your land."Then the Prophet ﷺ asked, "Have you been to Sham?"He said, "No."The Prophet said, "It resembles a tree in Sham called the walnut tree, which grows on a single trunk and spreads out at its top."The Arabi asked, "How large is its base?"He replied, "If a young she-camel from your family's herd were to set out to circle its trunk, she would not complete the circuit before her collarbone broke from old age."He asked, "Are there grapes in it?"He said, "Yes."He asked, "How large is a cluster?"He replied, "A journey of a month for a speckled crow flying without faltering."He asked, "How large is a single grape?"He said, "Did your father ever slaughter a large billy-goat from his flock?"He said, "Yes."He said, "And he skinned its hide and gave it to your mother, saying, 'Make us a water-skin from it'?"He said, "Yes."The Arabi said, "Then surely a single one of those grapes would be enough to feed me and my household?"He said, "Yes, and most of your clan as well."
حدثنا علي بن بحر حدثنا هشام بن يوسف حدثنا معمر عن يحيى بن أبي كثير عن عامر بن زيد البكالي أنه سمع
جاء أعرابي إلى النبي ﷺ فسأله عن الحوض وذكر الجنة ثم قال الأعرابي فيها فاكهة قال نعم وفيها شجرة تدعى طوبى فذكر شيئا لا أدري ما هو قال أي شجر أرضنا تشبه قال ليست تشبه شيئا من شجر أرضك فقال النبي ﷺ أتيت الشام فقال لا قال تشبه شجرة بالشام تدعى الجوزة تنبت على ساق واحد وينفرش أعلاها قال ما عظم أصلها قال لو ارتحلت جذعة من إبل أهلك ما أحاطت بأصلها حتى تنكسر ترقوتها هرما قال فيها عنب قال نعم قال فما عظم العنقود قال مسيرة شهر للغراب الأبقع ولا يعثر قال فما عظم الحبة قال هل ذبح أبوك تيسا من غنمه قط عظيما قال نعم قال فسلخ إهابه فأعطاه أمك قال اتخذي لنا منه دلوا قال نعم قال الأعرابي فإن تلك الحبة لتشبعني وأهل بيتي قال نعم وعامة عشيرتك
Its isnad is sahih. Amir bin Zayd Bakali is correctly Asim bin Zayd, who is trustworthy. Ibn Hibban deemed him trustworthy and narrated from him, while Bukhari and Abu Hatim were silent about him, and Haythami said likewise, 10/413.The hadith was narrated by Tabarani in Al-Kabir, 17/126, number 312, and Ibn Hibban, 653, number 2626 in Al-Mawarid, and Ibn Abdul-Barr in Al-Tamhid, 3/320, and Bayhaqi in Bath, 274. Munziri attributed it in Al-Targheeb, 4/521, to all of those we have mentioned.
