I saw myself as one of seven men with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and we had no food except the leaves of the hubla tree, until our mouths became sore.
حدثنا وكيع حدثنا قرة بن خالد عن حميد بن هلال العدوي عن خالد بن عمير رجل منهم قال سمعت
لقد رأيتني سابع سبعة مع رسول الله ﷺ ما لنا طعام إلا ورق الخبة حتى قرحت أشداقنا
Its isnad is sahih, its narrators are trustworthy, and Khalid bin Umayr Adawi is among the senior trustworthy figures of the Tabiin. His hadith appears in Muslim, at the beginning of the Book of Zuhd, 4/2279, no. 2967, and in Ibn Majah, 2/1392, no. 4156, in similar wording.
