We asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ three things, and he did not grant us any concession.We said, "Our land is a cold land, so we asked him to grant us a concession regarding purification," but he did not grant us a concession.We asked him to grant us a concession regarding the gourd vessel, but he would not grant us a concession in it for even a moment.We asked him to return Abu Bakra to us, but he refused and said, "He is one whom Allah has freed and whom His Messenger has freed."Abu Bakra had gone out to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he was besieging Taif, and he embraced Islam.
حدثنا يحيى بن آدم حدثنا مفضل بن مهلهل عن مغيرة عن شباك عن الشعبي
سألنا رسول الله ﷺ ثلاثا فلم يرخص لنا فقلنا إن أرضنا أرض باردة فسألناه أن يرخص لنا في الطهور فلم يرخص لنا وسألناه أن يرخص لنا في الدباء فلم يرخص لنا فيه ساعة وسألناه أن يرد إلينا أبا بكرة فأبى وقال هو طليق الله وطليق رسوله وكان أبو بكرة خرج إلى رسول الله ﷺ حين حاصر الطائف فأسلم
Its isnad is sahih. Mufaddal bin Muhalhil Saadi, Abu Abdul-Rahman Kufi, is trustworthy, firmly reliable, devout, and distinguished. His hadith appears in Muslim and the Sunan works. Mughira is Ibn Miqsam Dabbi, who is trustworthy and has been mentioned many times before. Shibak is Dabbi the blind, a Kufan whose lineage they did not record. His hadith appears in Muslim.This hadith was narrated by Saeed bin Mansur (2/290, no. 2808) in the chapter on jihad, by Ibn Saad (7/9), and by Tahawi in Maani Athar (3/279). Haythami said (4/245), "The men of Ahmad's chain are trustworthy."
