Abbas came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a state of anger. The Prophet ﷺ asked him, "What has angered you?"Abbas replied, "Messenger of Allah, what is the matter between us and Quraysh? When they meet one another, they greet each other with cheerful faces, but when they meet us, they meet us with something quite different."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ became so angry that his face turned red, and a vein between his eyes began to throb, as it would whenever he was angry. When his anger subsided, he said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul," or he said, "By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, faith does not enter the heart of any man until he loves you for the sake of Allah and His Messenger."Then he said, "People, whoever harms Abbas has harmed me, for a man's paternal uncle is the equal of his father."
